History
Admission is free and the bridge is open 24/7.
Pulteney Bridge was completed in 1773. Over the years the bridge was transformed as shops were converted, ruining the street elevations. By 1948 the buildings had become “a pathetic travesty of the original design”. In January 1936 the bridge was scheduled as a national monument and restoration planned to restore the original façade. The restoration was finally completed in time for the Festival of Britain in 1951.
What do people say about the bridge
“Beautiful place. There is really nice cafe on the bridge where can you have a coffee and a delicious cake and enjoy the view to the river. Park around is great for a walk, so you can see the bridge from different angles.”
Małgorzata Drążkiewicz
“Lovely bridge and architecture. There's also a lovely garden situated next to bridge costing £2 for entry. You could spend some time relaxing here just people watching etc. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.”

"A wonderful walk on the river passing by this bridge. There are many shops and restaurants around. The river has a unique atmosphere every moment of the year, you can spend your time there beautifully as you will see in the photos and canoes. There is parking nearby."
Kerry Cole
"I really like this bridge I like the design and having the shops on both sides across the bridge If you didn't know you wouldn't know you was crossing a bridge. I like how you go in a shop and when you look out the window you see the river passing right below and during the summer the tour boats passing below. A really nice place to visit when visiting bath."
